In your completed Legacybox, you will find your original tapes, reels, and/or photos, along with your new digital files on the storage options that were selected at the time of purchase.
Which storage option is best?
Each Legacybox includes a free 30-day trial of a Legacybox Membership. Your membership includes: stream from anywhere, easily share your files, download & save, secure storage. You can also add an optional thumb drive or DVD/CD set.

Whats a DVD/CD Set? How do I use it?
If you're sending in home movies, DVDs are great if you want to archive your memories and watch them using a DVD player. If you're sending in photos or audio, you can select to receive a CD which would be played on your computer.
Why are there blank or blue screens on the end of my home movies?
We capture your tape from start to finish, exactly as recorded. If the original has unused footage at the end, that blank section appears in your digital file too.
What is Digital Download?
For your convenience, all new digital files are stored in your Legacybox account, built on enterprise-grade, compliance-certified infrastructure, distributed across multiple fault zones with 99% durability.
My digital files look jumpy or choppy when I play them back in Quicktime. What should I do?
Don't panic! Your tapes and files are just fine. Quicktime has a lot of bugs that can result in choppy or jumpy video playback. While the video formats we use are very standard, some Mac computers may have issues with video playback.
Why is there blue screen on my files/DVDs?
We digitize every tape from beginning to end, so any blank space on the original shows up on the digital copy too, usually as a blue or black screen.
What are the weird lines at the bottom of my tape?
Those are overscan lines. Older TVs cropped the edges of the picture, so analog tapes often contain information that was never meant to be visible on screen. Digitization reveals it.
What is tape tracking?
Tracking fine-tunes your tape's speed during playback so it plays safely and smoothly. Here's what it is and why it matters for older tapes.
Can you combine my tapes onto a single DVD?
We transfer one tape per DVD to protect quality and make sure everything fits. We play every tape in its entirety, and long recordings can fill a disc on their own.
Why are my tapes, film or audio reels split into multiple files?
There are a couple reasons as to why. 1. Better compatibility with online storage platforms. 2. Better compatibility with USB storage. 3. Better compatibility with DVDs, at maximum quality.
How can I edit my audio digital files?
Once your audio files are downloaded, you can edit them with free programs you may already have on your computer. Here are the ones we recommend.
Why does my film jump around?
Small warping in the film is usually the cause. Humidity changes curve the film over time, which makes it harder to track through our scanners and can cause jumpiness.
How can I view my digitized files on my TV?
We don't have a smart TV app yet, but you can still watch your digitized files on a TV by casting from the web app or connecting your computer. Here are the options.
Why isn't my thumb drive working on my TV?
The included thumb drive is formatted for computers, not TVs. TV brands support different file systems and codecs, so compatibility varies by model. Here's what to try.
