How do I troubleshoot my USB thumb drive?

  • Updated

A USB Thumb Drive is a great way to get your digitized, future-proof, and ready-to-relive memories back.

There are a couple things you can do to make sure your USB thumb drive works for years to come:

  1. Ensure USB Compatibility
Our USB thumb drives are designed to work on most computers made in the last 10 years. USB thumb drives are formatted as exFAT with an MBR partition map. If you are using your USB thumb drive with a device other than a computer, be sure to check the manual for your device to ensure compatibility.

Our USB's are compatible with Apple computers running Mac OS 10.6.5 and newer, Windows computers running Windows XP and newer, Xbox 1 and PS4.
  2. Back up your files
The first thing you should do upon receiving your USB thumb drive is to back it up in some way, whether that is to your computer, another drive, or the cloud, you can’t go wrong. For detailed instructions to do this, check out this help article.
  3. Safely store your USB Thumb Drive
Keep your USB thumb drive in a location that is safe and easy to remember. While a USB thumb drive is a convenient way to store your digital files, it’s also small and easy to lose, if not stored properly.
